Magnolia-Amanda Snook

Amanda is a vivacious, fun loving mom of three boys from Fairbury, Nebraska. She is a paraeducator with Fairbury Public Schools and is passionate about helping children grow and develop. Her family loves spending time outdoors and recently remodeled an old farmhouse on an acreage outside of Fairbury.

On December 16th, Amanda and her husband Brian were in a motor vehicle accident, and Amanda began a fight that would change the course of her life. She was transported by helicopter to Bryan West as a Level One Trauma in critical condition with multiple injuries including broken ribs, a collapsed lung, radial nerve damage in her left arm, and most critically a spinal cord injury at the T8-T9 level. The spinal cord injury has resulted in loss of feeling and movement from the belly button down. She is currently undergoing treatment at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE.

In true “Amanda style”, she has confronted her new normal with a positive attitude, infectious spirit, and non-stop smile. Her recovery process has been miraculous, and she continues to hit all her set goals and milestones in rehab. She is a favorite patient with the nurses and therapists – if they tell her to do something five times, she will do it ten. She has a fighting spirit and is working as hard as she can every day to get home to her family as quickly as possible.

Her journey is far from over, but she continues to inspire others to never give up on their own fights. She has a few mantras she uses to keep moving forward: “Just Breathe” and “She Believed She Could So She Did”. She would like to share those with each of you for a time when you need them.
