Well, hi!! We’re so glad you’re here. Let me tell you a little bit about us and why you belong here.
I was raised in a small town (Seneca, Kansas) and my Dad runs a business there. He can’t sit still and neither can I. I’ve always looked up to him and how hard he works. For my day job, I’m a pharmacist. I’m also a mom to two little girls, Remi and Reagan and a wife to a railroader. So life is crazy, but I thrive on chaos! I always wanted a business of my own. I called my dad one day and told him I had a “crazy idea.” “What if I sell clothes, Dad? What do you think of that?” And he said, “If you think you’ll be good at it, you will be.”
The next day, I made appointments with our accountant and got everything arranged with the state. The week after that, I got my first couple runs of clothes. My mom came and helped me make my very first post. We sat there together and I said “Here goes nothing, Mom!” I hit “POST” and a few seconds later we heard “ding ding...ding ding ding” all comments coming in with orders. My mom looked at me and said “You better order more stuff!” Every night, my mother in law Joyce and my Aunt Cindy would come over and help me pack orders in the basement of my home. The walls would be lined with orders to pack. Sometimes we would pack until 2 in the morning on a work night! We were determined to not have anyone wait too long for their order. Those are some of my best memories!
As we continued to grow and gain support from all you wonderful women, we knew it was time to find a store. We decided to completely gut and remodel a rundown army bunker from the 1930’s, there is so much history in our store! We are located in Diller, Nebraska. A tiny town of approximately 200 people! The typical “blink and you’ll miss it” kind of town. I hope you can come visit us sometime!
I chose the name magnolia and main because I love the magnolia flower, it’s dainty but it’s also is a sign of perseverance. I knew there would be challenges with starting a business because I don’t have a business degree and I don’t have a fashion degree. I just have a lot of faith and a lot of heart. I know what I like and I know that trust is important. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way, but I never lost sight of our customer. Our customers trust us and our MAIN goal is customer satisfaction. Without our customer, we are nothing. So, hence the name Magnolia and Main, which has since been coined “Mag & Main” by our customers!
So fast forward 5 years and thanks to my husband and my family and friends and our incredible customers all supporting this adventure, we have won awards and superseded all expectations I had when we started. I have an incredible staff of employees that help me daily. My closest friends are very involved and do all the modeling and website organizing and updating. Joyce continues to be a huge help on the daily and my mom and aunt Cindy jump in and help in anyway they can. It takes a village, and I’m lucky to have the one I do.
So, if you’re a busy gal, you want to dress cute on the fly and sometimes you eat an entire sleeve of Oreos (and maybe you don’t even really like Oreos but you still mindlessly polish off a sleeve, like me?!)...well then, you’ve found your tribe. Welcome!
You can ALWAYS sit with us.
